Mrs. Lynda Gayle Gilstrap

July 19, 1949 - April 7, 2022

Liberty, SC - Mrs. Lynda Gayle Gilstrap, 72, loving wife of Kenneth W. Gilstrap, of Liberty, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022 at her home. Gayle was born in Greenville County on July 19, 1949 to the late Calvin Duncan and Mildred Galloway. She was a dedicated wife and mother who was always looking to serve her family and others. Unwavering in love, she was known for her cooking, warm hugs, and fiery spirit. Dressed to impress, she always brought gifts and home cooked meals as a sign of her love. Most importantly, Gayle was a devoted member of Flat Rock Baptist Church. As a long-standing member, she loved serving the congregation and welcoming new members. Gayle was retired from the State of South Carolina and continued volunteer work through her church and community. She was an advocate for community emergency preparedness and the Battered Women’s Shelter of the upstate. Mrs. Gilstrap is survived by husband: Kenneth W. Gilstrap; her daughter: Shannon D. Broom (Shannon) of Pickens; two grandchildren: Anaston Porter (Isaac) and Abigail Broom; and three sisters and one brother: Pat Townsend, Carolyn Dodson (Phillip), Sherri Duncan, and Ronnie Duncan. The family will have a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers and food, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Flat Rock Baptist Church: 115 Slab Bridge Rd., Liberty, SC 29657.
